The Georgia Sea Turtle Center is proud to offer a number of special events for sea turtle enthusiasts of all ages! Whether it’s coming together to Shell-e-brate Earth Day or dressing up for some non-scary Turtleween fun, we have an event you’ll be sure to enjoy.
March
Turtles for Tomorrow Scout Event
Saturday, March 10, 2012 from 9am-1pm
Boy and girl scouts are invited to participate in this 3-part event hosted by the Georgia Sea Turtle Center. Discover the world of turtles, tortoises and terrapins with visits to the Georgia Sea Turtle Center, Tidelands Nature Center and the Jekyll Island 4-H Center! Presentations, activities and visits with live reptiles will get kids actively involved in the survival of turtles for tomorrow. Scouts ages 7 and above are welcome to register. Advanced registration is required. Cost is $10 per participant. Space is limited, scouts & leaders only please. Shell-e-brate Earth Day

Join us for the fifth annual Shell-e-brate Earth Day family festival! This earth shell-e-bration features recycled crafts, earth-tastic activities and eco-entertainment for the whole family! Turtle Crawl Triathlon

The Jekyll Island Turtle Crawl & Nest Fest is a USAT Sanctioned Olympic and Sprint Distance Triathlon produced by Set Up Events as part of their 2012 Georgia Series. Tri to help sea turtles by registering for the Olympic or Sprint Triathlon events or the 5K and 10K Run by clicking here. The event will take place along Beachfront Park near the new Jekyll Island Convention Center. After swimming, biking, and running along Jekyll Island’s scenic beaches, roadways, and paved bike paths, crafts and educational activities, provided by the Georgia Sea Turtle Center, will be on-site for turtle enthusiasts of all ages. Events culminate with the Saturday afternoon release of a rehabilitated sea turtle from the Georgia Sea Turtle Center! (Release details will be available closer to the day of the event). Events benefit the Georgia Sea Turtle Center on Jekyll Island. Nest Fest activities and sea turtle release are FREE to the public. Patient of the Year
June 1 – June 30, 2012
Get ready to cast your vote for the sea turtle patient that best represents the Georgia Sea Turtle Center’s mission of rescue, rehabilitation and release! Hosted by Phantom & Erika, the Loggerhead sea turtles voted 2011 co-Patients of the Year, guests can purchase a $1 Pledge Card in our Gift Shop and tell us why their favorite patient should be this year’s winner! Winner will be announced via the GSTC blog. Last year’s winner was announced via the GSTC blog- find out who is was!
Sea Turtle Camp

A summer camp program to inspire youth involvement in sea turtle conservation.
The Georgia Sea Turtle Center is proud to presents its 3rd annual Sea Turtle Camp! We invite children ages 6 to 12 to join us for the ultimate camp experience as junior conservationists. Come be a part of this groundbreaking program with fun-in-the-sun activities, sand adventures and unforgettable sea turtles! Price per child is $200 and includes 25 hours of structured programming, snack every day and a unique STC t-shirt! Space is limited, so register early! Teacher Appreciation Night – Date TBD
Back-to-school means field trip planning time! If you are a teacher in Glynn or a surrounding county, join us for this exclusive after-hours sneak peak at what the Georgia Sea Turtle Center has to offer your students! Turtleween
Saturday, October 20, 2012 from 11-4pm
Georgia Sea Turtle Center staff and volunteers invite all turtle enthusiasts to join in some Fall fun with a sea turtle twist! This outdoor event features educational exhibits and fun activities for everyone to enjoy. Trick or treat with the sea turtles, enjoy an old-fashioned hay-ride, or cast your line at Friendly Fisherman! Costume contests are held every hour on the hour and hay ride tours through the historic district will be fun for everyone! Filled with treats, not tricks, it’s sure to be turtle-tastic! No reservations needed. Event is free with general admission to the Center – $7 adults, $5 children, 3 & under are free.

Scout Month – November 2012
Come to the Georgia Sea Turtle Center for a special scouting experience anytime during the month of November! Download our Scouts-only Scavenger Hunt, then track your adventure as a sea turtle through our exhibit gallery & visit with real sea turtle patients. Scouts will receive a FREE participation patch with a completed Scavenger Hunt! Reservations for groups of 10 or more recommended. Visit georgiaseaturtlecenter.org for information and registration.

Santa & the Sea Turtles

Santa visits good girls and boys every year, so why not sea turtles? He’s stopping for a visit along his Christmas migratory route; sit on his lap, tell him your wish, admire his red and white suit!
