In addition to sea turtles the Georgia Sea Turtle Center also sees and cares for other types of turtles besides sea turtles such as diamondback terrapins, softshell turtles, river cooters, gopher tortoises and box turtles.  Everything from vehicle collisions to predators has been seen in these other patient species.  They receive the same care our sea turtle patients receive, but are often more shy than the sea turtles and require a quieter environment.  Therefore, are housed in tanks that are not readily visible to visitors (unless you register for a Behind-the-Scenes Tour!).
