Beaches
Jekyll Island’s 10 miles of unspoiled beaches are perfect for sunbathing or swimming, for leisurely walks or invigorating jogs. As a barrier island, Jekyll Island’s beaches feature unique formations and are ever-changing. Don’t miss seeing Driftwood Beach on the Northern tip of the island, and bring your camera.
Fishing, Boating & Kayaking
For a relaxing day of beautiful scenery and exciting fishing along the Georgia Coast, Jekyll Island offers Dolphin tours, Fishing Charters, kayak tours and Sailing trips.
Biking
Biking is a popular way to explore Jekyll Island. The island features more than 20 miles of paved trails that allow for exploration of a broad range of scenery, from beaches to forests to Jekyll Island’s own Historic Landmark District and campgrounds.
Birding
Bring your binoculars and see a diverse array of birds on Jekyll Island. From the novice naturalist to the birding expert, bird watching is a popular hobby throughout the year.
Horseback Riding
Saddle up and experience Jekyll Island on horseback! Guided tours originate from the Clam Creek picnic area on the island’s north end, make their way though maritime forests and along the salt marshes, then return along beautiful Driftwood Beach.
UGA 4-H Tidelands Nature Center
Tidelands offers nature walks at various locations around the island, guided kayak tours in the salt marsh, summer and school group coastal ecology programs, as well as our exhibit area open to the public, featuring live coastal species including sea turtles, fish, touch tanks, horseshoe crabs, snakes, alligators, and more! Tidelands is open Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Admission price: $2.00 per person.
