The GSTC offers several educational presentations throughout the day. These fun and interactive programs provide visitors the chance to learn in-depth information about sea turtles and patients at the Center. Programs are FREE with general admission!

Talkin’ Treatments
Wonder what’s happening on the other side of the treatment room window? What’s wrong with that patient? Are they using sedation? Antibiotics? Throughout the day listen in as patients are seen by the veterinary staff for your chance to hear first-hand about turtle treatments as they happen!

Patient Feeding
Hang out with the Center’s most popular attraction-a sea turtle! Learn the story of a recovering sea turtle patient and watch as they enjoy a late morning breakfast. Learn how we simulate natural feeding behaviors in captivity and supplement their daily diets.

Did you know that 5 of the 7 species of sea turtles are commonly found off the coast of Georgia? Come learn who is visiting our inland waters! Each species has characteristics that make them unique. During this presentation, you’ll learn about the 5 species of sea turtles and fun facts about each one!
Turtles, Tortoises and Terrapins, Oh My!
Wednesdays
Get to know the turtles that call Georgia’s coast home, up close and personal. Turtles, tortoises and terrapins…aren’t they all turtles? They sure are! But what’s the difference? Specimens, photos and a visit from a live turtle will have you saying, OH MY!
Amazing Adaptations
Thursdays
Sea turtles are marine reptiles and have a number of special adaptations that allow them to live in the ocean. Come learn about these amazing adaptations through an interactive presentation, where we turn one lucky guest into a sea turtle! You don’t want to miss it… its AMAZING!

Meet the Diamondback Terrapin and learn about the threats they face. This presentation explains where terrapins live, how they get their name and what makes them different from sea turtles. Guests will also learn about the Georgia Sea Turtle Center Diamondback Terrapin Monitoring Project and how we are working to preserve this species on Jekyll Island.
Scute’s Ocean Adventure
Saturdays @ 3pm & Sundays @ 2pm
Gather round the puppet theater and join Scute, GSTC mascot and loggerhead sea turtle, for an extraordinary adventure! Follow Scute on his voyage through the ocean and join in on the fun as he meets several interesting characters along the way: Maura the Eel, Leandro the Leatherback and Stan & Sylvia Shark! Suitable for the younger crowd, although it’s a show that’s sure to make all ages laugh!

Today’s menu: Crabs, Squid, and Fish. Which one would a sea turtle choose? Believe it or not, all sea turtles do not eat the same things! Each species has its favorite! Come see how and what one of our patients eats for dinner!
