In Like a Lion, Out Like a Sea Turtle

Uncategorized No Comments »

So long, February, and hello, March! A new month means a new recycled craft at the Georgia Sea Turtle Center!

We had a lot of fun hanging (and reading!) the Valentines that were left to our sea turtles all through February. Our turtles received over 200 Valentines. Here’s a small sampling:

“To the Boston turtles–
Enjoy your stay in GA!”

“Swim, Charlotte, swim!”

“Griffin,
Get better soon!
Maybe one day you can
go in the ocean again.
Love you!”

“Vida
I will try extremely hard
to help you out”

“Dear Spitfire,
You are a pretty cool turtle”

“Hey, Dylan!
You’re my favorite.
I can’t believe you’re a girl!”

For March our new craft is – drum roll please – Egg-cellent Magnets! Sea turtles with patterned eggs for their carapaces are on the table in the exhibit gallery’s presentation area. The magnets are already glued to the back, so these guys are waiting to be colored, cut out, and brought home to decorate the refrigerator.

Our Egg-cellent Magnets are the GSTC’s way of celebrating the arrival of Spring on March 20th. They’re quite cute, so be sure to stop on by the Center this month to color your own!
