Wow, it’s been a busy few weeks! Most of our life support systems are now fully operational (see photo of the staff getting training on operation of the systems from Stuart of Aquatic Eco-Systems). The X-ray equipment is being installed this week and our walk-in freezer arrived today.
We DID take a little time today to enjoy a cold Terrapin Ale at Vincent’s Pub (at the Jekyll Island Club Hotel), but for the most part we’ve been working 12 hour days for as long as we can remember. The staff in the photo is (from left to right): Dr. Terry Norton (Director of Veterinary Services), Dr. Bill Irwin (Director), Jeannie Miller (Aquarist), Stefanie Ouellette (Educator), Michelle Kaylor (Aquarist), Megan York (Educator), Erika Kemler (Hospital Coordinator). Alicia Marin (Educator) will join us in May.
By the way, when you visit Jekyll Island I highly recommend that you rent a Red Bug to cruise around the Island. They can be rented right at the airport; Lisa and I drove one for a day and it was the perfect (quiet and easy) way to get around the island!
